Unboxing of the Verizon Gizmo Watch 3 **Strong opinion warning**

Watch for a review of the Gizmo Watch 3, including specs and pricing.

I was shocked to learn that Verizon is marketing the Gizmo Watch to kids as young as 3. While there may be some benefit of this product for OLDER kids and teens, giving devices to a 3 year old is hugely detrimental to their mental and physical well being.

I challenge Verizon to reconsider marketing their product to toddlers.

This is definitely not a product review. This is your opinion as a mother. I came here looking for how to use it and how well it works. It's not about not trusting our children, it's about not trusting the people in this world. So many people go missing every year.

Hey. I've been getting these for my daughter since the first version. Let me just say, as an unfortunately separated father, at age 4 this was a godsend. To be able to connect with my child at any hour, was reason enough. It's designed in a manner that only lets incoming and outgoing calls, to numbers you program, and it's very intuitive, even for the little ones. She's 8 now, and she wears it to school, or when she goes to play with her friends. There's no internet l, so to speak, so it's a worry free, convenient way to always have piece of mind. Hope this helps someone.

For anyone looking for an actual review: the phone feature works good enough for a young kid. The GPS tracker is good, but obviously doesn't show the exact location. What's also nice is that you can turn on school mode so that they can only make SOS calls during your scheduled times you set up to limit that school distraction she failed to mention.

we live in a world where no matter what there are evil people, and its better safe then sorry and in the end 150 to have a little more safety for your child is nothing

This in not review but some mother opinion about allowing kids to have electronic devices

This device has allowed my child to have so much independence and freedom to play with friends in the neighborhood. I'm sure not every child would fit this device. But it has been a game changer for us!!

I’ve been begging my parents for this watch, not because I need a device on me. Because I will feel more comfortable with it. I’m in middle school, and really have no desire to deal with everything a phone can do to you. Sure, it’s fun to text your friends and connect with them, but I feel it’s better for me to stay off one until I’m ready. So I’m asking for this watch, for my safety, so I know when my parents will get home. So I know if something is going on after school. And for my own peace of mind, honestly. I know it’s crazy for a 3 year old, but if they get lost, you’re going to wish they had a tracker or something to communicate with.

Just review the features! I don’t even disagree about it being unnecessary for young kids. But I need to learn the feature to evaluate that for my 9 yr old who may start staying home alone for short times. No one has land lines and this watch could be the solution to give him a way to contact us or 911, when home alone but you don’t even go over the features.

I was looking into this watch because my 7 year old walks to her bus stop not far from the house sometimes I can’t see her there’s another house blocking the view and I can’t always walk with her. I won’t have to worry soo much

Must be nice to be able to trust other adults around your children. That is a luxury YOU have. How many parents have sent their 3yo to daycare and never seen them alive again because the caregiver abused or neglected them?

You have obviously never heard of kidnapping and/or child trafficking problems. Has nothing to do with surveiling our children as much as it is keeping them safe and knowing their location in crowded places like zoos or amusement parks.

I just want a way for my kid to call me if grandmom dies or we get separated at the mall

IMHO, stick to reviewing the product and not your philosophical views as to whether or not children need the product. If I didn't want my child to have the product, I wouldn't be looking for the product reviews in the first place. I came here for a review of the watch; I quickly left due to your "strong opinion" that should have been about the functionality.

I don’t care what my kid thinks about me tracking them. I’m not supposed to be their friend. I’m the guardian.

I don’t see a problem. My son is 5 and I’m considering getting this. It’s already in my cart as I have wifi with Verizon. My son has an iPad. So when he’s at his grandmas or aunts he can call me no problem with wifi. But when he’s in public he can’t call. I’d rather be safe than sorry. He’s my only child and I don’t trust people. My thing is why is the tracker part for you thought of as if I don’t trust my child or he can engage in criminal activity?? My child is 5. I trust him, I don’t trust other people!! Especially if he’s in public with other family members. Yes, I trust them but again I don’t trust anyone as much as I trust myself watching my child in public. Especially if it’s a busy kids place. Also you can implement rules such as not having it during school hours, put it in their backpack. I’d prefer the “perfect” parent judging me than something happening to my child and not being able to find him.

Oh man. I just got that pit in my stomach feeling. My just-turned-nine year old daughter received hers in the mail today and we set it up. We homeschool. I mean, I’m mostly with her. I do limit when she can wear it, though, but I worry I’ve gone too far too soon.

We're on the same track you outlined but our kids are 12. We're starting here and a phone may come next year. Thanks for confirming my thinking.
