Why Marx Now: 200 Years Later

Carnegie Mellon University's Kathy M. Newman and David Shumway gave a talk on why Karl Marx still matters. This was the kickoff to a year of events, "Marx @ 200," leading up to what would have been Marx's 200th birthday.

Of course Marx matters. No greater intellectual was ever more mistaken about the subjects about which he propounded than Marx. He truly is the father of intellectual rot. To see his empirically failed ideologies still held in high intellectual regard by people with advanced degrees is quite an achievement.

Shameful. Makes me embarrassed to be an alumnus. Celebrating a man whose ideas are responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands.
