Wes Anderson's Bottle Rocket: The Triumphant Failure

Bottle Rocket is by far my favorite Wes Anderson film. I saw it the opening weekend to a sparsely filled theater and I laughed my butt off. Worth noting is that I was the ONLY one laughing in the theater. Even my wife kept looking at me, saying "what is wrong with you?"

We’re all here because we love this movie but Tennenbaums is his magnum opus in my opinion. Bottle Rocket seems much more grounded and personal as opposed to his other films which is why I love it.

Botlerocket is great You(90%) must waych it twice in a row to get it. Try wayching any wes anderson film 2 times in a row. Multiple veiwings will help You appreciate them better

Interestingly enough, Bottle Rocket was the only Anderson film to not have Bill Murray in it. By the way the Hotel where we met Inez is in Hillsboro, TX just south of DFW and is now a Days Inn. The field, poolhouse, and layout is still the same! The front desk is proud to talk about that movie still.

Call me crazy but I think bottle rocket is one of Wes Andersons best movies. It’s a fun summer on the road movie and not only that but interesting characters. Now sure Rushmore, isle of dogs, life aquatic, and moon rise kingdom are all great films but in my opinion bottle rocket surpasses all of them. It’s the almost home movie feel that real hooks me.

Bottle Rocket's climax is one of the best action-comedy sequences I can think of (barring anything Jackie Chan directed). It's also nice to see how he made films before he fell into his distinct aesthetic, makes it feel more relatable. Cool video, but I disagree with the value judgement on this film. It's one of his best.

Rushmore was my favorite Wes Anderson film, then for a while it was Life Aquatic. Now it's a four way tie between Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums, and Life Aquatic.

Been following Wes from the beginning. Bottlerocket is hard to compare to the rest of his movies, as it's not a lot like the rest of what's he's made. The Life Aquatic is his crowning achievement.

It’s wrong to call Bottle Rocket a failure...it led to Rushmore. Had no one funded Rushmore and he never made another film again, then BR would’ve been a failure.
