Bring (x+9)! to the left and make denomitators same:
((x+8)(x+9)! + (x+9)!)/(x+8)! = 256
Then dividing out the factorials gives:
(x+8)(x+9) + (x+9) = 256
take out common factor:
(x+9)(x+8 + 1) = 256
so:
(x+9)² =256
so x+9 = +- 16, so x=7 or x=-25.
Done and done in under 30 seconds.
