It won’t hurt your ears and doesn’t use a drop of fuel, but it’s projected to crush the quarter-mile in the low-8-second range at more than 170 mph. For the first time ever, Ford Performance introduces a one-off Mustang Cobra Jet factory drag racer with all-electric propulsion. The battery-powered Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 prototype is purpose-built and projected to deliver over 1,400 horsepower and over 1,100 ft.-lbs. of instant torque to demonstrate the capabilities of an electric powertrain in one of the most demanding race environments.

I know it’s the future, I know it’s for a better environment, I know they’re fast. But I’m not ready for it yet. Still need the smell, the sound, the feel of a cross plane crank, Metallica sounding, whisky swiggin, American V8.
Great job Ford. I knew it was in the pipeline when Chevy came out with the eCOPO, and the Mach E presented. This is American enginuity and evolution.

I like the spool of the electric motor, but I love the sound of the V8!

Dam the future really is here already. No manual transmission, no pistons, no roaring mufflers, no weekend's working on the stang changing some oil, spark plugs, coils, air filter. All the little stuff plus some big ones too, that makes you love working on your stang are gone taken away from us. I don't think I like the future very much.

Why didnt Ford put into production that electric mustang with the 6 speed manual?! Instead of the Mock-E, built the 6 speed car and this Cobrajet, these are True Electric Mustangs.

I'm not an electric fan just yet and my worry for Ford and GM is that producing concept vehicles that we can't buy doesn't do squat for the bottom line! When old Elon rolls out a car it's pretty much what the public will be able to put in their garage! I think the days of using concept vehicles to sell turds is either gone or on its way out! I like the way Tesla is changing the auto industry, their customer service and repair services are still a way off but they keep honing and refining towards a better customer experience

It's almost like car makers are finally figuring out that if you make electric cars look good instead of like a deformed microwave, people will buy them. I'm thankful Tesla put some fire in the rear of these car makers with well designed good looking(not cyber truck) electric competition. Now good looking well performing electric cars will finally come out.
