Hampton Dellinger, former head of a federal watchdog agency, was among the first to be fired by President Trump. So were 18 inspectors general and the chief of the board that protects federal workers.
What is happening to independent watchdogs? Scott Pelley reports, Sunday on 60 Minutes.

"60 Minutes" is the most successful television broadcast in history. Offering hard-hitting investigative reports, interviews, feature segments and profiles of people in the news, the broadcast began in 1968 and is still a hit, over 50 seasons later, regularly making Nielsen's Top 10.

I'm so glad 60 Minutes is not cowering on reporting this crisis of leadership in our country.

Sorry to burst your bubble but, SES positions in the federal government have very little protections pertaining to “job security”
According to the rules of the Executive Branch and OPM:
The President’s power to remove subordinates is a core part of the Executive power vested by Article II of the Constitution and is necessary for the President to perform his duty to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” Because SES officials wield significant governmental authority, they must serve at the pleasure of the President.

I was in the military for over 20 years and worked for the Federal government as a Federal Agent, and even I did not have as much protection as one would assume. Sure there are hurdles of procedure to fire or demote, but SES’s, which is what an OIG senior leader is considered, is not protected and can be dismissed or demoted, even if they disagree with the dismissal.

Anyone who accepts an SES position accepts the risk of possible early termination or dismissal and is sometimes in that position, not necessarily because they are good at their specific skills, but because of “loyalty” to a specific ideology.

This whining about this man losing this job after he said he lost his job after serving 6 presidents or whatever, tells me it is time for some fresh perspective. Get over your ego and take your retirement graciously. Government service is not your personal “wealth building” “I’m going to stay forever” job.
It’s a temporary service to your country. If you want to work longer, go back to being a GS civil servant. Or go to the civilian sector and see how far those arrogant words carry about being wrongly dismissed.

Just watched the whole segment on CBS, no one from the Trump admin. was interviewed to explain why they were fired nor was the outcome of the lawsuit explained. It's like listening to half of an argument. As Paul Harvey might ask, "Where is 'the rest of the story'"?
The was no indication that Scott Pelley or his team attempted to dig into the other side.

The government is a self-serving institution that has never been able to work efficiently or protect the taxpayer - it is good that someone has stepped in, regardless of their past or personality!

In the history of this country, no one has ever been laid off before. How dare Trump fire able-bodied adults who can now find jobs in the private sector with a bit of effort. He is a disgrace.

The ONLY reason to fire watchdogs is so he could laundering money to his own pocket

But if they are fired and save money for the population in america, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, might put the Watchdogs on a list for list for therapy (long needed therapy) to try and not worry to find new or better jobs that matriculate for those in the government and watchdogs so I say share files and keep talkin'.

These videos have nothing to do with the fact that Trump has a lawsuit against CBS and 60 minutes correct?
