New F-35 Arctic Survival Kit

U.S. Air Force's new arctic survival kit for the F-35A Lightning II fighter aircraft in Alaska.

The newly made performed because the Advanced Combat Ejection Seat (ACES) II arctic survival kit won’t fit in the allotted space under the seat of an F-35A.

A standard survival kit includes a compass, a flare and a five-inch knife. The cold-weather kit also includes components intended to increase survival chances in environments where temperatures reach negative 40 degrees Fahrenheit and below.

The sleep shelter system not shown here is made up of:
- A reversible poncho sleeping bag. One side is camouflaged and the other side is black with orange panels for signaling.
- A pair of pants that closes on each side with hook and loop.
- A balaclava type headcover.
- A pair of boot covers that go up to the knees.
- A pair of mittens that go up to the elbows.

All components are made by Wiggy's Inc. in Colorado and are insulated with Laminite. Wiggy's guarantees Laminite Not to loose loft when vacuumed sealed.

Ok. What’d we learn here that’s applicable to our potential civilian needs?
-strip MRE’s
-Food Savers compress clothing into 1/3rd normal bulk
-even a kit that rides the rocket includes a proper compass (not a gum ball machine toy)
-when it comes to saws & knives “buy once, cry once” (and tell ourselves that every time we buy another one)😂
-onesie snowsuits are worth their weight in gold (think of how many environments are served well by a pair of 3 season coveralls too)

The news channel, KTVF 11, in Fairbanks Alaska published an article along with a video on their website discussing and showcasing some of the survival kit contents for this F-35. The video explains what some of the gear is for, such as the compact folding shovel made up of what looks to be two pieces of sheet metal put together with a hinge and holes for handles.
