Some additional facts you may find interesting regarding the Bellamy salute:
- It is named for Francis Bellamy, who wrote the Pledge of Allegiance
- Congress officially changed the flag salute to being the over-the-heart salute we know today before WWII had even ended, which I think shows just how early people soured on the gesture, thanks to its similarity with the fascist salute

About the Prussian heel clicking, I know a story that happened right after WW2, when the Dutch Army was building and training for the indonesian war of independence, the British trained cadre, could spot former Wehrmacht or SS members because of that, they often still did it when saluting an officer in normal style, they still clicked their heels.

Dispite not being mentioned in the video the ""roman salute"" was also very much present in the fascist regime of Spain and Portugal and unlike the belami salute it stayed long after the end of ww2
