Making a tooled leather 1911 holster Leathercraft ASMR

Another tooled leather 1911 holster. This time based on Will Ghormley's "Hand of God" pattern from the movie "3:10 to Yuma". Patterns available on his website (although I've altered it for this particular piece.) I'm using Tandy Leather's Selection Grade veg-tan hide for the shell. It tools very nicely. As per usual, the liner material is Tandy's excellent milled veg-tan.

The laser is a Creality CR Falcon 10W

Just want to take the time to say that my uncle learned leather craft in WW II In rehab from injury and when he retired I spent some time with him and he passed the art on to me before he passed away. Now I'm retired and 71 years old.I enjoy your videos no matter how you present them and I still learn some great things from you so much and your artistic abilities are just awesome

Some folks have patience, others have skills. The Road Agent has both and builds beautiful leather.

I love a double lined holster myself, back when I was a younger man I started out making knives and axes and naturally you move into making sheaths and such for them. I recall seeing a fellow at a show who was making the double lined holsters and I talked with him about it and when I got back home I made several and honestly, the police went nuts over them. Gave them a smooth draw and didn't rub the blueing off their guns. Of course back then, most detectives carried revolvers, .38 Specials mostly. Then came "Lethal Weapon" and suddenly Berettas were suddenly all the rage. Since then it's mostly Glocks, Barrettas and Sigs, Occasionally you will run across a S&W M&P, or something different. I had one detective up in Greensboro who used a Maab, which is a French made 9mm, but at the time it was the first semi-auto that had a fifteen round magazine.
The other side of this is when you make a holster for a cop or detective, he's gonna need magazine holders as well and they need to be readily accessed from his off hand.
Biggest set up I made for a fellow was a frontier reenactor and he had me make him up a western style pistol belt with holster for his .45 long Colt peacemaker on his right and a Bowie Knife on his left. He specified he want the belt holster and sheath to me double lined, but I talked him into using Kydex as a liner with a leather sheath. I don't normally care for Kydex, even though they are popular but I hate drawing a pistol or knife that makes too much noise and if you don't have them tight then the pistol or knife could fall out.
I also warn people about having lanyards on their knives as the lanyard will get caught on something and next thing you know you look down and somewhere along the trek you just took your custom made knife you love as good as your best girlfriend is laying on the ground or dangling from a bush. I always tell folks to have your lanyards ready to take out and put on so you can handle your large knife for detailed work, then take it right off.
I actually had a fellow come to my shop and tell me he'd lost his knife he bought from me and felt that since he'd only had the knife for less than thirty days my unconditional warranty for materials and workmanship applied and I owed him another knife. Needless to say we had a rather intense exchange of thoughts and ideas and then I offered to make him a new knife at the same price I'd charged him before. Losing the knife, was not covered, or he could go back track where he'd gone and find his knife. Then I reminded him that I warned him about lanyards left on your knife.

I have Wills pattern pack but haven’t made a holster from it yet. I’m going to order his 1911 100 year anniversary pack soon.
Love your videos. Keep up the excellent work. Thanks for sharing your journey with the world.

Another beautiful creation, I have'nt done a toe plug but had a project with a lot of box stitch, which is basically the same thing. Got tired of the pliers thing and dug around for my old sailmakers palm thimble, seemed to speed up the push-thru process although I still had to use pliers to pull the needle through. Thanks!
