A lot of us struggle with overspending. It’s no wonder; the average American receives 6,000-10,000 marketing messages every day. Impulse buying is rampant, and when you spend more than you need to, you often end up spending more than you have.

A few years ago, my spending habits led me to $40,000 in debt. But I learned a lot from that experience about financial wellness, money management, overspending, and debt free living.

This is my personal finance story and debt free journey. I hope that you can learn something from my debt payoff journey and debt confession.

I overspend on clothes. I think I do this because how I dress is a creative outlet for me but if I was really "creative" I should be able to shop in my closet, right?

Did you lose $40k or spend it? The headline is a bit confusing. Losing money is a whole different subject matter than overspending. People lose money in many unfortunate circumstances that are out of their control.
