I just found this. I grew up with the music of Elvis, Nancy Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Barbara Streisand, the Righteous Brothers, and many others piped through my mom's hi-fi. I remember her playing her Elvis albums over and over that August in 1977. This song has always belonged to Elvis because of that.

Through all the other covers (including or maybe especially Wlliie Nelson's) nobody could own this song. It belonged to Elvis.

Until now.

I feel like the luckiest guy in the world. I was gifted a little chat with Jack about ten years ago at The Louisiana in Bristol, England. We spoke about song writing(i was learning the craft back then)..before our chat, this very humble young man had stepped on to a stage in front of 100 folk and performed to an audience where a pin could be heard dropping...he was pleasant, humble, generous with his time, humorous, sharp, deep-thinking, talented and just an out and out wonderful human being...and we spoke five years later at another gig and he remembered our first chat.
Am i the only one who thinks that vocally-speaking, Jack Savoretti is becoming a living legend??
This vocal performance has to be right up there with Elvis's version(bar a little guitar twanging..happens to the best "live")...betting The King would have loved him. Elvis always recognised vocal gifts. He once told a journalist that Roy Orbison was the best singer in the world as far as he was DONE JACK are thoroughly deserved of your success. I, for one, know how hard you have worked to get there.
