(SINGING LIVE DRESSED AS A CLOWN)
Baby, although I chose this lonely life
It seems it's strangling me now
All the wild men with big cigars and gigantic cars
There all laughing at me now
I've been so blind, so blind
Wasted my time, wasted so much time
Walking on the wire, high wire, yeah
But I wont let the show go on

Baby, look there's an enormous crowd of people
And they're all after my blood
I wish maybe they'd tear down the walls of this theater
And let me out...let me out
Oh, I've been so abused,so abused
i broke all the rules,i broke every single rule
oh iv been a fool oh what a fool
But I wont let the show go on

I've been so blind, so blind
Ive been so unkind,so so unkind
Wasting my time, wasting so much time
But I wont let the show go on

Baby, I wish you'd help me escape
And help me get away
Leave me outside my address
Far away from this masquerade
I've been so blind, so blind
Wasted my time, wasted so much time
Walking on the wire, high wire, yeah
But I wont let the show go
I said i wont let the show no
I said i wont let the show go on

I never realized how many great songs Leo Sayer wrote and sang when I was a teenager in the 70s. And his voice really was a true original in many ways.

This is one of the greatest tracks of all time. Leo absolutely killed it (in a positive sense).

There was so much freaking originality in the early 70's - where did it go ?

When i was little, whenever Leo Sayer come on the telly, you always used to say thats him who dressed as a clown. For years i wasn't sure what she meant, because i didn't remember seeing these performances by him, me being too young. But now its a pleasure to actually watch them on youtube, all these yesrs later.

His jerky body language, odd hand gestures are so bizarre and delightful. I wish more people made songs about clowns.

This is definitely the best version of this song I have found ... top notch performance! I remember Leo and knew he was good, but after seeing 3 DOG NIGHT sing this song, I clicked on Leo's version and have been hooked ever since. His top 10 hits catch match just about

Pure genius. This man is so talented. Just A Boy is a wonderful masterpiece. They don't make performers and singers like this anymore !!

THAT is a voice. No one today has that voice and it's sad that there isn't because today's music is filled with everyone who sounds the same

I remember him like this as support to Roxy Music in 1973, then saw him as a headliner in 1974, both shows in England.  I've lived in Australia since 1988 and saw him again in 2013 at Mundaring Weir.  On May 3 I am off to see him again with Joe Camelleri, Russell Morriss and Richard Clapton.

I am so aching to find this concert on a DVD somehow. I remember hearing Leo Sayer's songs as a teen. I was too busy listening to David Bowie in those years, and OMG just look at what I missed seeing!! Nothing short of absolutely BRILLIANT!!

Morrissey had this on his pre-concert video / photo montage, writ large. Such a performance. Thanks for the kick in the pants Morrissey.
