Very good way of teaching the technique! Makes it relatable to something basically everyone has done! 👍

That's almost exactly how it was taught to me. It's an excellent analogy!

What you did right is opening the standing foot, meaning the standing foot almost points to the opposite direction of the target instead of sideway. Lots of people fail to do that and that restricts their kick, especially if it's a roundhouse. The standing leg is very important. If your standing leg is wrong, your kicking leg won't be right. With a roundhouse kick, failing to open the standing foot will constraint your hips and prevent your pivot.

Sidekick has been my go to pretty much 100% of the time whether it’s in the ring or on the street. It is the first place My mind goes to always control the distance.

I love sidekicks, especially if you ever end up in southpaw and get rushed, a side kick with your dominant foot is a great option. Very good distancing kick with some serious power.

Very well done, very clean, the whole foundation of the kick was there and well explained. Awesome work

I think sidekick lowkids are kinda underated.

I mean not only are lowkicks a lot Harder to catch and also riskier you also Get a whole lot of distance.

Bear in mind shane is using the blade of the foot tkd style, ive found that some do this naturally, or rather thier anatomy looks like they doing that, sometimes telling people to expose the edge rather than heel, they can kinda over twist and ruin the technique, experiment and find your angle

Hey, i hope you're doing well. I would be grateful if you could answer me some questions please. I am 18yo right now, wanting to pursue mix martial arts. The city i live in doesn't have any kind of fighting gyms or schools. im gonna move out of this country next year, untill then i wanna maximize what i can do before joining a mma gym in Canada. So what should i focus on until then without any guidance or training facilities. There are only normal weightlifting gyms available where I've trained to get stronger.

It seems like you're making contact with the blade of the foot. Is there any reason you do that rather than using the heel?

My hips hurt too much to kick any higher than half way, any tips?

My problem is not executing the technique of a sidekick, it is just so hard to land on people without telegraphing.
