Entangled Baby Seal Fights Back!

This baby seal had the energy of a future alpha bull! He gave us a hard time, but his fighting abilities gave him a high chance of survival in the wild. A few grams of fishing line around his neck would have ended his promising future too soon. It is an unfair battle between uneven opponents that marine animals can never win. Now that he has been rescued, he can fulfill his destiny and grow into a big boy.

Having said that, I really like when they stick around a bit, wondering what is going to happen next, then eventually make a run for the water. Obviously, the seal brain doesn't know the concept of "gratitude" towards the rescuers, but saving them is enough for these guys to continue on.

AM I A SEAL? Seeing the herd run to the sea reminds me of people who run from the truth of ocean pollution. Perhaps if I had fishing line wrapped around my throat, knowing it will kill me, would make me think twice about preventing this kind of catastrophe. I'd like to be a happy seal who never has to worry about the crap floating in our oceans. Let us all be happy seals today and thank our OCN HEROES for their mission of love.
