Don't so hard on yourself. Every mistake is what you learn from when you are a beginner. The trousers aren't dreadful. I think the fabric is maybe too stiff and that may well make things more obvious but at least they are still wearable. Look at the problems Hales (Hales Moore sewing) had making trousers and she's been sewing longer than you. I think you are doing great and although I've been sewing years I still enjoy watching your vlogs and seeing how you are advancing so keep it up! Xxx

Wow, you are doing awesome Elle! I don't know how many garments were fails for me in the beginning, lol. Thats how we learn, but your garments all look very wearable:) That button up skirt is so super-cute!

Great makes! The skirt with the big funky buttons is so cute on you. I learned to sew 50 years ago and I still make mistakes - frequently. I learn from every one :-)

Hi Elle, work really hard at ignoring that anxiety. I have been sewing for years and there are always massive gaffs along the way. You are taking on makes that are not "beginner" friendly and smashing it. If it was all perfect it would actually be quite soul destroying as a viewer and would be easy to feel "not up to it" and maybe give up. I love all your makes, in the last six months I have toiled six pairs of trousers and only ended up with one (just about wearable) pair. Keep on keeping it real :)

There is not a sewist in the world who hasn't got a best friend...that bestie being their seam ripper lol every garment I make still has mistakes but it is all learning and I am still super proud of my makes....wear them with pride and you are doing awesome ;)

Might have been the material that was the problem. Try again with a softer fabric. I am new to sewing too and mistakes happen.

You're freaking hilarious 😂 and I LOVE all of your makes! Good job saving the neckline on that gorgeous dress! I'm almost three years into sewing and still waiting on the time when I make that "perfect" garment also but don't think it'll happen any time soon... So I'm glad you're keeping it real and showing your mistakes as well. It's just exciting to think that there is always more to learn with this hobby!
