The 175,000 mile Porsche 911 GT3!

I get behind the wheel of the 'Moon Miles' GT3, a 997.1 generation 911 that has covered 175,000 miles since 2007.

If you want to follow the cars adventures moving forward:

From the Collecting Cars listing:
This 997.1 generation Porsche 911 GT3 Clubsport is a handsome and much-enjoyed example of the thrilling sports car, which is reported to be in excellent mechanical order. It is powered by the incredible 3.6-litre M97.76 flat-six, producing up to 409bhp, and driving the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. A testament to the car’s usability and reliability, this GT3’s odometer displays 168,640 miles from new.

Created with fast road and track use in mind, this right-hand drive 911 GT3 was specified with the optional Clubsport package and is fitted with lightweight composite bucket seats, satin grey 19-inch GT3 alloy wheels and PCCB carbon-ceramic brakes.

An original UK-market car, it was first registered on 28 September 2007 and its log book shows six prior registered keepers. One of these enjoyed taking it on long excursions across legendary driving roads in Europe, which accounts for the unapologetic ‘used as intended’ mileage.

nside, this GT3 Clubsport makes its motorsport-oriented intentions clear. Clad in Nomex, the composite bucket seats are in good order, although the covering has worn away slightly on the driver’s right-hand bolster, exposing the foam padding beneath. This has a protector pad fitted to ensure it does not wear further. In the rear, a black half cage provides additional rigidity and enhanced safety. Standard seat belts remain fitted, reflecting the fact that the vast majority of the mileage has been accrued in use as a fast road car, rather than on the track.

I am the 2nd owner of my 2016 GT3RS - Had 14000km when I bought it - Ive had the car 3 yrs - now has 80000km (ie 50000miles) - Plenty of road and track miles/km - Love the car - is designed to be driven so I drive it - I don't care about resale as I have no intention of selling the car.

So great to see people using their cars instead of garage queening them! 💯

Proof cars will do it if you look after them

IMO that shows someone who can afford to drive the cars he's buying. He's not fussed about re-sale value, and he's allowing himself to enjoy the car without restriction. More people need to be like this and enjoy them! At this rate the manufacturers will only give you a 30k mile warranty as that's all people seem to do . . . .

The guy daily driving and putting 300k miles on Porsche GT3 must have been one of the happiest man! High mileage sport cars are so interesting! And it's usually a testament that nothing went wrong with it and it was well maintained!
Thanks for the video Sam!

Porsche build quality is top notch. The fact that so many mile them up is a badge of honor for both the car, and the owner for having the stones to enjoy it as intended.

You need to find the owner who put on all the miles for an interview, he sounds like an interesting chap!

Mad respect for the guy for driving a fairly valuable car for so many miles. A true car guy!

Edit: The cinematic shots and the video quality are getting too good!

I used my 997.1 GT3 CS, as my daily commute doing 35miles and then for work going to job sites and to meetings for 5 yrs...it was faultless and a joy, why drive a shite box when you can just drive in pure driving pleasure every day. Being bright green with green cage, It really turned heads when turning up for a meeting while 500 site staff were getting their morning toolbox talk and I drive past onsite amongst all the trucks, cranes and Utes.

So cool to see that people actually use them! I work at Porsche Centre Eindhoven in The Netherlands and we have also had a client with a 997.1 GT3 that had 245.000km on it. And we still have a client that drives a 2014 991.1 Turbo S with almost 300.000km on it right now!

With BTG F1 podcast, standard BTG podcast, now multiple blogs from STG....we are getting back to normal. I've watched the last 12 months of all of those old ones on repeat so much that I can almost recite them verbatim!! Love you Sam! You are the best!

omg that's what these cars are for! Driving lots of miles throughout Europe or even the world. My dream is to get a 993 and just drive all over the continent with it and just document every trip. Meet other enthusiasts and petrolheads, maybe grab a coffee with them and just enjoy life.

Sam, your content is pure gold <3

I would be so interested to see an interview with the previous owner and hear about what he's driving now. This man is a hero
