I’d really love to see a more in depth look at that M3A1.

2:21 Lu Lu Bell is a perfect name for a cast armor tank.

Note the M2 Medium's national insignia - a Bue disc on a White star on a Red disc. This probably looks strange as it is the opposite of the USAAF's insignis (the red disc was removed after Pearl Harbor) and was used by Army Ground forces before a plain white (or yellow) star

I'd really love to see you do a video on the history of cast armour on tanks. Especially how the design of various cast-hull French tanks ended up inspiring the M3A1 and M4A1.

This is just the video I needed right now, because I'm designing a tracked conversion for my spouses electric wheel chair and plan on making it with a scaled down HVSS using inlines wheels as road wheels!

🤣the angle makes it look like the M3 has been fitted with a bayonet to its 75mm ...the idea didnt even surprise me ...they put everything else on it 😁

It's incredible how Chieftain can take an obscure technical detail and make it interesting.

@1:55 Nice "OD (Over Dirt) paint job. lol
@3:22 It also replaced the roof top hatch the riveted Lee's had. And... why is the side hatch hinged the "wrong way"?

Just watching the rebuild/restore of an M3 Grant (Welded Hull) at the Australian armour and artillery museum in Cairns, I live in the nextt city down the highway in Townsville. One thing I noticed on the M3 with cast hull is that the side crew doors have their hinges on the rear of the door instead of on the front edge, which means that if bailing out under fire, no protection is given to the crew exiting from small arms fire.

Yer. Those clompy bits on the side of the bogeys. I see it now. Cheers Chief.

Thanks for this video

Some ride comfort is to be expected, it does not have to be a Bently but if the crew is exhausted, annoyed and injured from operating the vehicle than there is a problem.

From the first angle, it looks like the 75mm has a bayonet on it, but it's only the 37mm cannon behind it.

I kind of want to see cheifton talk about the rogal dorn, new guard tank. I think it was based on the Matilda.
