Tekton DIY and Mechanic APPROVED Impact Sockets The Price is Right

Tekton 1/2 Inch Drive Shallow 6-Point Impact Socket Set, 14-Piece (3/8 - 1-1/4 in.)
Item #4816

Tekton 1/2 Inch Drive Deep 6-Point Impact Socket Set, 14-Piece (11-32 mm)
Item #4885

Description:
Built for use with impact tools, these TEKTON 1/2 in. drive impact sockets fit in tight spaces to effortlessly break free rusty suspension and exhaust bolts, quickly remove stuck lug nuts, and loosen crank bolts with ease.
Performance
TEKTON impact sockets efficiently transfer torque from impact wrench to fastener, loosening the most stubborn nuts and bolts. Made from high-strength chrome vanadium steel, our impact sockets are more resistant to drive end round out than standard impact sockets, resulting in a longer useable life. TEKTON impact sockets meet or exceed ANSI performance standards.
Design
The high-torque, 6-point socket grips the broad, flat sides of nuts and bolts, not just the corners, so there's no need to worry about stripping fastener head or damaging socket.
Markings
Even in low light, the high-contrast, permanent laser etched size markings are easy-to-read.
Storage
The customized red TEKTON case can be stored in a tool chest or carried to your job site. Molded size markings keep the set organized and help identify any missing sockets.

I have them and use them, I used them heavily in tight spots and the numbers will wear off partially but still readable. This is mostly for the shallow ones, the deep impact are not affected. Since I am OCD about putting tools back immediately even during a job I can just slide them back in the case and not go fish LOL. As far as holding up, I used them on suspension, brakes, engine and so much more, never an issue.

Love the Tekton Impacts and Chrome. Also love that their sets are more complete and you can buy the other sizes individually and needed.

I use all the Tekton sockets. When I say all I mean ALL. I am a Chevrolet Heavy Diesel tech. My laser etching comes off after about 6 months. Best warranty in the biz guys. 10% back online too.

Thanks for the in-depth review Chris! Awesome seeing you and Dow teaming up as well. I, personally, have zero need for impact sockets but still a very informative video that i still HAD to watch from beginning to end! Great stuff. Thanks and God bless both you and Justin Credible! 😁

Edited because of silly "auto correct" smh

I've been using Tekton for awhile they are really an overlooked tool company most of the time and while I have not tried or purchased all of their tools I have been happy with the performance of the tools in general I have some impact sockets, crowsfeet and one of those little pocket sized adjustable wrenches that I usually carry in my pocket everywhere I go thanks for the honest review as always the JD stamp of approval goes a long way

I've been super happy with my Kobalt set of impact sockets. (Got them 50% off when Craftsman moved in.) I have used them daily for almost a year as a tire tech/some mechanic work. Some scratching from normal wear, but no failures.

My first impact sockets was the deep tekton 1/2 metric. It is extremely well built and I have used it on my suv suspension. Real tool reviews has a video on it having to impact a nut screw on a tree stump using the Milwaukee impact gun. The video shows it impacting for several seconds without the tekton breaking.

Tekton 1/2 impact socket is the real deal. Saw a guy at my work repairing the loading dock ramps using the same sockets in this video!!

I have the tekton shallow impacts in 1/2 drive and their extra long double box ratcheting wrench's. I also purchased the 24 inch 1/2 ratchet. I have had great success with these tools and will continue to purchase them.

As a new Diesel Tech on Transit buses, I have their 1/2 drive Deep impact sockets in SAE & metric, they hold up fine with the impact gun or using them on a breaker bar. Haven't broken any sockets, just socket adapters so far.The biggest socket of Tekton I have is a 1/2 drive 38mm that I remove and install 1 1/2 inch lug nuts, torqued at 600 ft. lbs.

I've mainly bought my Tekton impact sockets from a local hardware store that WILL warranty out a broken Tekton's tool with an item under their warranty. If you bought a set and broke 1 thing, you must return the entire set and hope they have a replacement on the shelve you can swap out. I'm sure shopping and warranties online maybe easier.. Plus buying from them online after creating an account, you'll RECIEVE, I believe 20% "Tekton cash/money" on every order with free shipping and a discount they have for students and more tool options (sets or individually) than your local store that carries them.

Awesome review. Just ordered the stubby metric 1/2in drive set. Gonna use them with ratchets and breaker bars for now since I only work on my car. Have the option to put power tools on them. 🔩

This video addresses my YT pet peeve, "This tool is fine for occasional use, but a professional needs something better." Drives me up a wall. Same with so-called tool reviews where the presenter obviously had not used the tool enough to garner a stable impression of its performance. I won't name folks, unless someone wants me to. ;)

#ClientGraphics For impact sockets. Some like the Tekton are heat treated and dipped into an oil while still hot. The oil absorbs into the metal and coats it giving it that black shine. The Harbor Freight socket doesnt use that method. Its painted I believe. Which is why when it was rubbed against the Tekton socket it was the paint from the Harbor Freight that was transferred not the coating coming off the Tekton socket. After the oil dip the socket is laser etched to remove the coating in that particular area. Tekton is a far superior product who cuts no corners except for its broaching technique. Now you know how laser etching works along with oil quenching hot metal. There are other methods of quenching but this is the most popular.

I have the Tekton SAE shallow and deep impact socket set and I beat the shit out of mine just to see how much they can take, I have yet to break one. I have screwdrivers, Allen wrenches, ratchets, pliers and hammers from Tekton and I have been so pleased with the Tekton products I have bought I refuse to buy hand tools from other brands anymore unless it's a tool Tekton does not make, for the price and quality as well as how complete their sets are you really can't go wrong as a DIY or pro.

Please compare Tekton to the pittsburg pro impact sockets doing a up close bench test on them. Great vid guys

Hey Dow.., told ya so..! 🤣😂
Sorry I just had to say it. I have a couple of Tekton impact sockets myself and have had to warranty them both out, that was probably easier than getting something warranted at H.F.

The Tekton impact sockets are a great tool hands down and the warranty is top notch! Chris & Justin, you guys keep rocking it brothers!

Will they hold up to heavy duty diesel use?

We have that exact tekton deep set at work and I can tell you that the laser etching does wear off eventually. How long did dow get a chance to use these?
