Very nicely explained. That's my future goal but, due to my budget I have started with a Yamaha TSR-700 because it has most of the features I wanted for less than $600 (8k pass-through with firmware update, Dolby Atmos & Vision, HDR, Wi-Fi) and also with 2 preouts for the front speakers which I am using an older Emotiva UPA-200 to power my SVS Prime Pinnacles. Eventually I'll get my AV rack with all separates, I just need to be careful not to push my luck with the WAF "wife acceptance factor" ;)

I've watched videos on both car and home audio. One thing I've noted is, the car audio enthusiasts seem to put an emphasis on pre-amp output voltage being higher 4v and up being the best. Apparently, lower voltage will/can introduce distortion in the signal as you crank the volume. I have often wondered why, in home audio this never seems to be addressed.

In my experience a high end receiver running external amps sounds just as good as a processor. Especially the newest D&M stuff because they have a amplifier disconnect switch now for when you're using the AVR as a preamp.

Does adding an amp change the sound signature of an AVR??? I have an Arcam AVR31 with Class G amplification, and if I were to add an Emotiva BASX A3 with A/B amplification to the LCR then would my fronts/ center sound like an Emotiva and not an Arcam?

Yes, warm sounding amp is what I need for the big Klipsch towers. I'd like to add this to my RZ50 home theater receiver. Do you have a brand of 2 channel amp that you know is warm? THANKS!!

Question for ya- my pre amp is a 90's Carver and obviously doesn't have any way to sense the signal for power from my receiver (so I will be pressing the power button every time). Do you know of a way to simplify this chance?

Nice video.
I have AVR Onkyo HT-R390 [no preout) and NAD 3020 (has prein & preout).. Is it possible to pre-out the FR and FL only using this NAD 3020? If could, appreciate if you could give me the cabling scheme.
Thank you

Excellent an American reviewer that doesn't do silly inserts and wear stupid printed clothing.
