This is bogus. Cruyff stated that he had nothing against Van Gaal. Why would he have been jealous, as he achieved everything he wanted? Something in their relationship went wrong after Cruyff gave him leave - his wife was ill - when he was studying practice as a football coach underCruyff at Barcelona. What exactly that was, as far as I know, neither explained that publicly.

There are many theories about this rivalry. LvG worked as a youth coach under JC at Ajax, and they had cordial relations at the time. According to LvG, this changed at a Christmas dinner at JC's home, when LvG had to leave quickly due to family circumstances, and JC blamed LvG for not thanking him for hosting the dinner. JC denied this story and it does seem incredibly petty.

I think it's just more circumstantial, due to their different roles at Ajax and Barcelona at different times. And the fact that they have very similar approaches to football, but different in the details and in the philosophy behind it. Van Gaal being more disciplinarian and systematic. Even though they both liked to play attacking football with strong homegrown squads.

Whatever started it, it probably snowballed because JC did indeed always belittle LvG's successes at Ajax. After his managing career, JC was also an influential pundit, and he criticised LvG when he was at Barcelona. But he was far less critical of e.g. Rijkaard afterwards. In 2020 Van Gaal said that his management approach owed nothing to Cruyff, but only to Michels, which he built on.

JC did not prevent LvG's appointment as manager at Ajax, but he did prevent him from becoming general director (so not a footballing position like director of football, but a boardroom position like CEO) during the "Velvet Revolution". Because JC had initiated this revolution at Ajax, and he was part of the new supervisory board, but the other board members went behind his back to approach Van Gaal, whereas JC and his supporters wanted someone else.

Petty rivalries have always been part of this self-destructive tendency in Dutch football. Cruyff criticising Van Gaal was one part of it. But there was also Rinus Michels preventing Cruyff from becoming the Netherlands manager for both the 1990 and 1994 World Cups.

So many clueless kids and casual "fans" who only watch YouTube highlights. This was a well known rivalry for anyone who grew up following football religiously throughout the 90s and 2000s, and exemplifies the pettiness that runs deep in dutch football for decades.

On Belgium television, you had a programm wich inlcuded children interviewing celebs. But these kids always asked very direct and difficult questions, but Van Gaal was probably the only one answering all the question without trouble.

The kids even asked: "Is Cruijff better than you?".
Van Gaal replied: "As a player, yes. But not as manager.".
