I like the purpose stated "How to think like a poker pro." Alex gets you thinking beyond the 2 cards you are dealt. Raising and 3-betting with a purpose or strategy used by the winning outliers of poker that Alex has studied in their databases. Learn how to think like them and you can go off script when needed and still have a winning strategy. .Looking forward to the 2nd part of the series.

Seems like he has an interesting approach to coaching. Bringing in the comparison with a football QB and Navy Seals training to Poker is an intriguing idea.

Key takeaway: aggression is rewarded in NLHE, raise, 3 bet and C bet as they have a positive expectation.

Evan,
After watching the video the first time, I wrote down the claims that you made at the beginning and watched it again. The obvious claims were that we would "learn the math, data and evidence behind poker plays that actually show a profit" and that we would learn "what Alex has learned by studying outliers in poker". After twice through the video, there was no math, no data, and no evidence supporting any poker plays. I'll assume the poker plays referenced are raising, c-betting and 3-betting, but that is not made clear, either. And what did Alex learn by studying outliers? Nothing was offered as being from this line of study.

This is not the first video of yours that I have made this same kind of observation and comment, and you aren't the only one making such statements. Alex says at the end of the video that he discussed three situations (and has twelve total to discuss). I can't figure out what three situations he's referring to, unless they're 1. A quarterback having at best six seconds to evaluate a defense, 2. Alex being an ass if his student is not paying attention, and 3. How his methods will not get me through the final table of a big event.

My goal is to be a better poker player, and I intend to do that by paying attention and questioning what's told to me (Alex also said to question claims). What I've learned from this video is that you folks make claims you don't live up to and that navy SEALs use Powerpoints (I'll have to check on that one). I also learned that I'm much less inclined to buy the book or videos. I learned nothing about poker.

Really feels like an introduction to a series. In fact, too short of a one. What i learned? Thinking about poker, about a hand, isn't too hard (because it's pretty simple maths) if you recognize the situation and the most important details right away. Therefore you need to be in a simulator (practicing?) for long enough to know what to look for.

How to Learn About Poker: I was successful. Pros chortled at me. I was insecure.

So.. Are you still winning in recent samples?
The way you put together some bulletpoints in a powerpoint ripoff and even adding in some candlecharts, really makes me beleive you havent won in poker in a long time

Cricket?... really... Cricket? Are you sure you haven't factored in the population of India for that stat? Even though it might be true for that particular number, population wise, if you consider the number of countries involved it's not that hot...
