Today is John Lennon's birthday, October 9. I thank him for this beautiful song, and I thank Mary Chapin Carpenter for her sweet and tender rendition. The emotion she puts into each note she delivers reflects the touching lyrics so perfectly. What a gift to us all from John, and Mary too.

The fact that John Lennon was inspired by the words of the English poet Robert Browning sums up the decline in British education. This once famous poet from the past would be unknown to the younger people of today. Thankfully, Lennon grew up in more cultured times and so we have these lovely words brought to us in this truly beautiful and deeply moving performance. How sad that John was denied the chance to live out his words and grow old with Yoko.

I am singing this song at the Celebration of Life for Our Beloved Friend- who passed on recently. She was 95 years old- Her Beloved Husband preceded Her in 2020- at 93 years of age. This was one of their favorite songs. I sang it to Her as She began Her Journey Home, a month ago. I could feel the in-dwelling of Her Spirit as She rallied to consciousness and smiled at Me!
