Hi so nice to hear this story and how far the Yorkshire name of Murgatroyd has travelled, my name is Philip Murgatroyd and we live in Queensbury, Bradford, West Yorkshire, My name originates from a sherrif on the moors in Yorkshire, he was known as the person at the gate on the royd (gate on the side of a moor), this grew into the name Murgatroyd, Even here our name is very uncommon and known as a Yorkshire name, hope your wee=ll and keep the Yorkshire Name Flying!!!

Marisa, I am watching the videos in your Superheroes Summit Thing this week and next!!! Lovin' it!  I am glad that you explained where the HECK you got your name!!!  I thought it was a FAKE name that you used for online marketing because you thought it was clever!  (especially cause you got the Super Hero Theme Goin' on right now!).   I just looked up SnagglePuss on YouTube and Wiki.  Brings back Memories of Saturday cartoons that My twin sister and myself used to watch as little kids!!!   So your name is real and thanks for explaining.   My Online Name is "Jupiter Jim" and, unfortunately, it is NOT on my birth certificate!!!  I plan on doing a short video to explain why I choose that name -- cause this video gave me the idea and people often ask me that online!   Last 5 days of videos in the SuperHero Summit were amazing!!!

1) My first guess would have been Indonesian. :-)
2) Some of my experiences are reminiscent of yours, having a very unique and unusual name in the US. Have had interesting and amusing renditions arrive via junk mail over the years. Mom's side is Jewish/English, father's side is Polish and Russian. I also lived in Latin America for 10 years. When I was in Colombia, the previous tennant of the apartment where I lived was named Jaime Roman. When I called Dominos for the first time to order a pizza, they already had his name on record because I had the same home phone, of course. To avoid confusion with using my name, I never changed the name. For the five years I lived there, Domino's always knew me as "Jaime Roman".

My grandmother's maiden name was Murgatroyd. She lived in Lancashire England. But the poor girl married James Gawkrodger.
