You see luffy's expression change from "alright let's fight" to "what the hell is this guy waffling about", he almost feels insulted, but in a way that makes him just think that ain't worth his time, so he just. . . Does nothing, he let's himself be heaten and mocked because why bother with a guy that has no adventurous spirit?

Many people like this scene where Luffy tells Zoro not to fight them presumably reminding us of the scene with Shanks but I find it wrong if we look at it with this logic...Shanks' point when he taught Luffy not to fight pricks at the bar was that all the guy did to Shanks back then was that he spilled some beer on his face...which is something that Shanks didn't take seriously but later on told Luffy that if his friends were to be messed with he wouldn't let it slide...but Luffy didn't follow that logic and let himself along with Zoro get beat for no reason...the guy slammed his face on the ground and started beating both his friend and him as well
