Tom Vasel is like our Sorting Hat for good board games. 20 points to Vaseldor!

I’d think the main thing that makes this game distinct isn’t that you have multiple players helping each other out rather than competing, but that it’s a campaign game with multiple books to go through.

I would like drawings instead of actors' photos so much more...

Tom: "I will pronounce things wrong and I don't care."
Me: .... you win I guess.

Have played this with my girfriend. Excellent, excellent, excellent introduction to deck-building! This will be great for families and Harry Potter fans.

Wow...the quality of this video is so much better than previous videos.  Very clear and high definition compared to other videos.  Are they using a new camera or something?  Great job guys and the quality!

I like the player boards, which several deckbuilders I own also have, but the organization aid that a board provides makes these kind of games more accessible. I especially like the currency tokens. I don't know how many games of Legendary or Apex where in the late stages I'm swamped trying to track combat and influence in massive combos. The coop part is really fun and you find in the later chapters of the game how to tag the best combos with each other's special abilities.

Fair review from a non-HP fan. I've only played up through year 3, but I don't think the randomness is that drastically different from other deck builders. If nothing else, I appreciate that the Dark Arts cards are more dynamic than what the villains do in, say, Legendary. And like Forbidden Desert, you can do a little card counting so you know what's left to expect before it's reshuffled. Length is a bit of an issue, but it's still not too bad.

I think this would been better if you played year for year instead. A specific deck for each year instead of mixing all the years. But I'll try it in future if I get the chance. Not a huge fan of the art from the movies, prefer art that are drawn.

Man, that sci-fi themed shelf to the left of Tom's head is a thing of beauty. Cosmic, Terra Forming Mars, Cry Havoc, and RFTG all enjoying each others company.

Ugh, I'll always hate games that use photos movie photos, yeah I'm shallow like that, I care for looks in games, I would rather all those pictures were drawn.

Got it in the mail today! Can't wait for my BGG (Board Game Group) to get to this one! Loved the Lego HP Board Game!

As much as I hate screen caps (and I'm not really a potter fan), this game blew me away. Games 1-6 are basically a tutorial and (although playing through each one and watching the young wizards get stronger and grow up to be battle tested wizards is pretty cool) game 7 is where its at. It's tough and will give any seasoned gamer a run for their money. The fact that its fully co-op is a huge bonus too. For some reason other companies seem unable to make a fully co-operative deck builder. That is where deck builders shine; in their co-operation to take down the villains and beat the game. Who the hell cares about a final score? The components for this game are really well done too. My only gripe would be that the "book keeping" by game 6-7 ends up being a little much to keep track of, but its nothing compared to something like sentinels of the multiverse. I recommend this to anyone who likes deck builders. This is one of the best out there.

It's really funny, the people calling out the use of photos instead of drawing when everyone was shouting about the opposite with Legendary Encounters: Firefly. Damned if you do, damned if you don't, eh?

New camera? This video is super clear. Love it.

All that to say against it and it gets the seal of approval. Maybe I'm just too caught up on the comments about bad luck ruining everything, it's always something that grinds my gears to know there's nothing I could have done about something, even as a guy who likes Galaxy Trucker.

"I'm not a harry potter phonetic. so there is a good chance I'l pronounce some harry potter stuff wrong." Bizness as usual. :)

Seriously, I'd never expect USAOpoly to get help for a deckbuilder from Forrest-Pruzan, who tends to make pretty cruddy kids games. Granted, FPC also worked with USAOpoly to make Wonky which I found quite enjoyable for a card driven Dexterity game.

Personally, love the epic feeling length of the game as you go through the books. But I'm a bit of a fanatic so take that with a grain of salt.
