De voorbereiding op het duel tegen NAC stond bij Ajax enigszins in het teken van Zlatan Ibrahimović. De Zweed had zich tegen het Nederlands Elftal al in diverse opzichten laten gelden, hetgeen leidde tot een groepsgesprek op vrijdag. Zondag 22 augustus 2004, in de eerste thuiswedstrijd van Ajax die met 6-2 werd gewonnen tegen NAC Breda, was Ibrahimovic de grote uitblinker. Met zijn solo naar de 5-1 als hoogtepunt.

The goal was special because of the context. A week before Sweden played against Netherlands and Ibra injured Rafael van der Vaart which happened to be also an Ajax player. Next week the crowd whistled every touch Ibra made. He scored 1st goal, a 2nd goal then he scored this masterpiece and the whole stadium went from whistling him to applauding him. Ibra also got a standing ovation. He is maybe a little arrogant but hell of a player !
