I read this book in 2019 for the first time as a student. And it gave me a window into the mind of one of the most reputable CEOs in Silicon Valley. This book gave me an idea of the different challenges a CEO has, especially of a FORTUNE 500 company.

This book inspired me to dream big. Today, when I read this book again in 2023 as a professional, there were quite a few points in this book I could understand a lot better and even consider implementing in my professional life. Today, this book answered many of my questions that usually originate once one steps into the industry.

I consider this book a sequel to Steve Jobs’ biography written by Walter Isaacson, although written by a different author. If you read Steve Jobs biography first, you’ll get to experience the whole journey of Apple, which is now one of the top trillion-dollar companies in the world.

In each chapter, the author first provides background to Apple’s progress in that particular area before Cook became CEO and then explains how much he contributed and what were the consequences of his new policies.

This book explains in exhaustive detail the whole career trajectory of Tim Cook, how Cook solved the supply chain problems of Apple and saved it from going bankrupt in the late 90s as Senior VP of Worldwide Ops.
The author compared the philosophy of Steve Jobs and Tim Cook for running Apple as CEO in different domains such as Public Relations, Leadership, Management, Corporate Social Responsibility, Diversity, Data Privacy, Product Ideas, Customer Experience, and many others.

Many of the stakeholders didn’t believe in Cook succeeding as Apple’s CEO after the demise of Apple’s best CEO, Steve Jobs. But Cook proved them all wrong over the years and Apple became the first trillion-dollar company ever in human history in 2018 under his stewardship.
