How to collect urine from your cat

I am thankful for this video. My cat has a fairly big litter box, so that handful of black plastic crystals that the vet gave me was too small of an amount. My senior kitty had to go, but refused to go after looking at her practically empty litter box. I was tired of watching and waiting, so I found this alternative way. Sprinkled a bit of regular litter in the bottom and put the plastic over it and taped it down on each end in the middle. That left the edges of the box with the litter exposed, but it worked and after she finished I immediately got her out of the box so she wouldn't try to cover it up with the exposed litter. I had a little syringe and test tube I put it in. However, one piece of litter may have gotten into the sample because there was a little bit of sediment that settled in the bottom of the tube. I have not been called with the results yet, but if they want me to try again, at least I know what to do. I have heard of using dried beans, but you'd have to make sure there was zero dust on them, right?

Worked great! My cat wouldn't use the litter box with the crystals from the vets office so I tried this method & retrieved a large sample of urine. Thanks!

My cat likes digs like she's going to reach China. Plan B please. I tried the NOSORB but it comes in such a small amount that it doesn't weigh down the box. She climbed out of the box by standing on the edge and all the litter went flying! She hadn't even peed yet. Now she has shellshock from the litter pan tipping over.

I used this method and it worked. BUT I was right there with her when she went and as soon as she urinated, I picked her up and sat her outside the box. The vet was astounded at the size of the urine sample, saying she had never seen anyone collect so much from a cat, lol.

Would it work if I buy a clear plastic shower curtain and cut a piece of it off to place into the litter box on top of his normal amount of kitty litter?

I tried this method once not from watching this video though somebody else had recommended it and when my cat went in the litter box he simply scraped the cellophane away. I think most cats do scratch a little bit when they get in the Box so I ended up using fish gravel that way he could scratch all he wanted and I would still get the sample :-) some cats maybe fine with this though it's worth a shot cuz it's much easier than having to buy fish gravel I'm sure

i`m going to try another method that i almost succeeded at, which is:keep him in the bathroom for two hours with the clean pan and beads in the plastic liner that he won`t pee in and then open the bathroom door with second litter box just outside the door with litter in it. Then with clean tea cup in hand, scootch it up under him fast enough that you don`t get cat litter in the tea cup and you can get enough pee in the cup.i failed twice at this and the vet kit costs me 30 bucks.We`ll see what happens later tonight on this method if he doesnt pee in the bare box with beeds in it as was supplied by the so called pros.hm!
