The Hazbin Hotel Cherub Plothole Explained

Recently fans have been discussing a potential plothole related to the cherubs from helluva boss. I’ll break it down.

So in episode 4 of helluva boss the cherubs accidentally cause the death of a human and get kicked out of heaven as a result. Some fans saw this as a plothole, and wondered why it was alright for sinners to be killed by adam and the exterminators, however if the cherubs did it then they got kicked out of heaven.

Well there’s a couple reasons. Firstly the cherubs are at the bottom of heaven’s hierarchy, they’re below humans and are equivalent to imps in hell. Adam the first man is way above the cherubs in the hierarchy, so it makes sense that he’s able to do whatever he wants

Secondly a living human is worth more than a sinner. The scenes with dearie and the cherubs took place before sir pentious’s redemption. We know now that sinners can get redeemed, however a living human is still more important. The cherubs broke their contract and as a result can’t enter heaven. It’s been confirmed we’ll see them return in future episodes. So they’ll either become evil, or perhaps try and redeem themselves to get back in heaven.

What has been bothering me for a while is how Sir Pentious got accepted into Heaven. He was "redeemed"... But he got exterminated? What? I always understood extermination as your COMPLETE erasing: you are no longer eternally suffering and just cease to exist with no further possibility of redemption. Adam EXTERMINATES Pentious, an already DEAD being residing in hell... How's he reborn in heaven???

I think we should point put that the exterminations were approved in secret. Meaning, even with approval, there is an understanding it is morally wrong and the approval wouldnt mean much if extermination became common knowledge in heaven

Oh, I thought this was gonna be about how the Cherubim are actually a pretty high rank in Heaven's hierarchy in angelology, but in Helluva Boss their rank seemed comparable to imps.

EDIT: also yeah I agree with what others have said, that the exorcists killed as part of their job. The cherubs' job was the exact opposite, they're supposed to save people, but they ended up open-firing in a loaded theater and crushed their target with a piano. Not to mention that, in most of their attempts to convince him to keep living, they hid the full truth from him, which is also pretty shitty imo.
