As a scientist myself, I wish to make one small correction to my colleague's assessment. The bird is, in fact, wearing wellington boots, since bird shoes do not typically cover the ankle. Hopefully they will be more careful with their analyses in future.

Hi, Al. This video is a dub of a Tumblr meme about the science side of Tumblr, a bird not wanting wet feet and bird shoes. Please show it to people who will like it. Thank you.

the plot of this is very simple, but the animation looks like a powerpoint. great humour and amazing characters.

I love how mature this conversation sounds despite being a shitpost.

It's amazing how the science side of Tumblr is less verbose than the non-science side of Tumblr

I love the idea of a "science side of tumblr" as if its split into districts or something

I can't believe no one is presenting it in "IF... THEN..." statement yet

Fun fact! This bird appears to be a type of sandpiper, a common shorebird that is known to search for insects and crustaceans in wet mud or sand next to shallow water. Particularly for sandpipers that forage on the coast, they frequently have to run away from incoming tides so as not to get wet, and as such would greatly benefit from a pair of waterproof boots like the bird in the video has.

Edit: This may also be a plover, which is another type of shorebird that frequently forages in and near ocean tides. They usually stay in place when the tide comes, rather than run back and forth, but perhaps they might like a pair of water boots too?

As a fellow scientist, i too can confirm that we limit our use of vocabulary for detailed, scientific explanations

For anyone wondering: the bird sound effect used in the background is the song of a chiffchaff :)

Love that the noun shoes is used like a verb.
I also like to shoes occasionally to avoid feet wet.

Verbose edition: "The avian shown here has realized it is wet outside. Having the will to avoid getting it's talons wett, the bird decided to obtain boots from down the street, next to the Chick-Fil-A.

I want birds to actually do this. It’d be so fun to see a bird shoe shop
