Day 141

I use the word “disability” to describe disabilities. I’m not offended.

Video description/transcript: Tiffany is a Taiwanese American woman speaking to the screen. “Do you want to be a better ally to disabled people?” Tiffany reads a comment: “ words change over time and words that were once acceptable are now considered offensive. Disabled is such a word and she should be aware of that.” Tiffany puts on a navy blue sweatshirt that reads “Disability is not a bad word.” Tiffany, speaking to the screen, “Oh, I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware. Disability is not a bad word, I even put it on a sweatshirt. And as a disabled person, I’m not offended by it.”

I'm more concerned about the casual use of the "r" slur for people with developmental disabilities.

The word will continue to be used unless you can find another way to say disabled veteran……..

What would you rather people say about being disabled? Would you rather people call you a partially functional person? Idk I think people are just looking to get offended for their groups.

I, myself have a disability and being called disabled is offensive, or bothered by it.
