Replacement of driver 3000 with 4000 works without problems, but neither VideoProc nor Davinci Resolve do actually start. They try to start after driver update, but close down immediately with an error message.
And, interestingly, when i let windows automatically search for driver updates, it reinstalls the driver for HD Graphics 3000 again.
So - no, i cannot upgrade my Intel HD Grapics 3000 in my HP Elitebook 8460p to HD Graphics 4000, although i can use the HD Graphics 4000 driver.
So, i'm still stuck with shotcut instead of VideoProc.
Nice try though, but doesn't change anything.

is this 100% safe to do? i cannot replace my gpu so this is kinda a last resort for me. i have an the same GPU and OS, im on a Thinkpad T420. (Edit: i did this the other day and didnt really do anything, nothing bad happened but it didnt fix my issue. i needed opengl 4.0 so i thought this could've worked, it didnt. i found out i can replace the motherboard with one that has a nvidia integrated gpu. so uh yeah)

You are a CHAMP!!!! I looked everywhere spent over 3 hours trying to find a solution to the HDMI no longer being detected because HD 3000 does not support Windows 10. I was going to give up, add Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, which only duplicates the main screen and go to bed! Then I was wondering if there was a way to update the driver to HD 4000 because no forum or person was saying you could or how and found your video. Worked right away! turned off the main while applying the update and then they both finally came on together! Thank you so much! Maybe add HD 3000 HDMI fix to your title for more views, because no one who has HD 3000 is able to use their HDMI output. Thanks again!

I never think of this, but I don't think that GPU can be upgraded simply by update the driver. Intel HD is integrated with CPU, the only way upgrade it is to change the CPU. Force install incompatible driver will only make the hardware work unusual.

Though its not recommended, this is still useful for those who "need" HD4000 driver but don't want to change the computer.

For those who have problems with this: I will make some modded drivers with better directx support and more fps and 3000 to 4000 automatically

But you have to disable secure boot to install the drivers because i cant sign them again

I swear the only different file is the inf for the driver
