Janet Baker and Gerald Moore "Morgen" by Richard Strauss
The most beautiful version. The accompanist is superb and acoustic is perfect. Enjoy it following a music sheet.

Unbelievable performance. The tenderness of uncertainty and the promise of love understood by both Baker and Moore is spell-binding

I have never listened to a lied this calm and tranquil. it's beautiful. both the pianist and especially this incredible singer express this magical serenity and hopefulness perfectly. the phrasing in the singers lines and the tasteful, sparse use of vibrato, the pauses taken, the tone, their synergy... i am without words.

Ah, Janet Baker! Janet Baker! Such a great artist; and one hears why Moore
Was the preferred accompanist of so many great singers.

Wow, that pianist. Such tenderness and excellent use of space.

I think I prefer it in F, to be honest. Has a certain warmth to it that harkens back to Schumann’s Kinderszenen or something of the like. Could just be that it’s being performed with piano, but I digress.

Textdichter: John Henry Mackay (1864-1933)
