Coke Scholars in Miami: Service Summit Kickoff

The Coca-Cola Scholar Miami Service Summit has brought together over 50 Scholars and alumni from across the country to learn from local experts and fellow alums how to maximize one’s impact in service.

The Service Summit kicked off on Friday, September 11, 2015, Scholars and alumni from 19 different classes focused on serving people, exploring what drives their personal impact and how to best design effective services for the people in their communities.

Impactful guest speakers included:
1. Mariana Rego, Co-Founder of Design Thinking Miami
2. Carlos Gimenez, Mayor of Miami-Dade County (R)
3. Jack Seiler, Mayor of Ft. Lauderdale (D)
4. Steven Olikara (2008 Scholar), President & Co-Founder, Millennial Action Project
5. Rep. Katrina Shankland (2005 Scholar), Wisconsin State Assembly
6. Joel Martin (1996 Scholar), Brightbox

On Saturday, September 12, alums will focus on places – discovering what makes a community great and how to enrich the places we live and work. The day will include a service event with City Year Miami, where alumni will beautifying Cutler Bay Middle School with school volunteers. Sunday, September 13, explores sustainability and making an environmental impact.
