What I find confusing is that - to me - "digital" means a series of ones and zeros. Like in serial communications. But, here you are using the digital pins as simply a DC power supply for the LED. Pin 3 is really just the +ve terminal of the power supply. I get that the switch can only be on or off - but you don't need an Arduino for that. The light switch in my office doesn't need an Arduino to make the light turn on. Great videos though! I've been playing with Arduinos and ESP32s for a few days and have been doing stuff like reading CAN bus data, but you really need to go through the basics first to really understand something.

Connecting a button - is there order (power/ground) important like in LED?
