Here is my SECRET WEAPON when it comes to limbing trees or cutting down woody overgrowth quickly and easily and its something I keep right in the truck so I have it on a moment's notice!! This is one tool combination everyone MUST have!!

Here's an impromptu video while on the job site of one of my regular customers...On this day imparticular she requested I trim a few tree limbs and clear out an overgrown natural flower bed. In the past, this would have taken me a great deal of time and effort to do it by hand...that or I would have had to go get a chainsaw and come back. In either situation, it would have taken a lot more time...and time is money!!

I hope this video helps YOU in future jobs and saves you time and effort!!!

PS - if you already have a sawzall and don't need to upgrade saws just try out the blades...they work in any type sawzall.

You can probably buy this saw from a local Lowe's or Home Depot. Originally, that was what I was going to do, but they didn't have what I needed in stock and it when I compared prices, it was more expensive than on amazon. These links are for the exact saw and blades that I have in the video AND are the same sellers that I bought mine from so I know they're reliable... Hope this helps!

This video saved me from investing in a chainsaw. Thanks!

Yep, I looove my Sawzall. Sprinkler repair guys use it to cut through big roots next to trees when they are squeezing off your poly line. Right now I’m using mine to remove a big tree stump. I’m cutting through all the roots. First I expose them with a shovel, then the Sawzall cuts ‘em in half. : )

This guy is right on. The Diablo comes in a couple lengths. I think 9 and 12 inches or close to that. They sell them at Home Depot. Price is about $10.00 or so for each blade.
I removed about 15 tree stumps from my property last year. It works incredibly well. A note of interest, the blades do break eventually. They break at the little hole where they connect on the sawzall. That is the only issue, and they break when you are unable to see what you are cutting when the blade in under the dirt.
I love this tool for trimming dead branches and limbs that are the size of a normal wrist. Anything larger then I go to the chain saw.
Great video. Thanks for posting it.

yes, it makes the cleanest possible cut so the trees say thank-you...and is relatively stress free and safe vs a chain saw when cutting
smaller stuff although i can get through 6 inch oak with ease...great tool adaptation excellent vid

Thank you for this video! I got a chainsaw to take down some bamboo and it was totally inadequate for the job - going to return it and get one of these!

Diablo blades are the best in the business. Buying a Bosch reciprocating saw, already have batteries for it so it makes sense. Just for cleaning up big branches, landscaping stuff.

Could not agree with you more. Just today used similar saw to “buck” fallen tree . Largest diameter was 14 inches. Great not to have to worry with gas/oil mix, bar oil, and constant re tensioning chain to bar. Did resharpen blades, but got job done. Enjoyed video!

Cordless sawzalls are great tools. Once we got one at work (landscaping) It started to replace a lot of tools for quick basic tasks.
And Diablo makes a top notch metal cutting blade too, be it for a reciprocating saw or circular saw. Their 10" "steel demon" blade saved my Evolution miter saw from being relegated to wood only.

I find that if you are cutting thicker trees, you can use a sawing motion back and forth to help clean out the wood cuttings from the blade and the cutting goes faster.

GREAT VIDEO!!!

Awsome blade and video. I'm going to buy some of those blades. I'm a plumber and sometimes I do have to cut through dirt and the better the blade the easier my job will be. I'll buy one for my personal sawzall to for when I want some firewood for camping. Thanks for sharing. 👍👋☺

I used my sawsall and the diablo blade which I bough on Amazon and removed about 12 shrubs and 6 small trees. Circled the stumps and blade cut through like butter. Had a climber remove a large tree in the back yard and I am now working on surface roots on my lawn and that is just as easy. The sawsall will sometimes shake vigorously put keeping pressure actually vibrates the root out of the ground.

Milwaukee 12in pruning blades. Best I've found for pruning. Reciprocating saws are great in trees if you're on a ladder or climbing in them. Put the blade in upside down to do an undercut.

Also great to hear about using it to cut tree stumps. By the way, I am almost certain that the new 20V/60V battery will work with that dewalt sawzall.

I remember trying to use my super saw to cut limbs 30 years ago with general wood demolition blades and it seemed useless. But with proper pruning blades it's a whole different story now. Great for roots! doesn't dull that quick.

great tool.. I use a reciprocating saw 80% of the time clearing bushes, pruning and limb removing.. I do use a wood blade sometimes but most of the time its a pruning 9 or 12 inch blade.. imperial, irwin, diablo and dwelt

I got a corded Sawzall, Ryobi...it's great for roots and limbs. It makes life easier. The Milwaukee blades are nice too

IME, a CORDED recip saw with a 3TPI pruning blade (I love the Diablo blades) is the way to go if you want to make short work of decimating larger trunks and boughs. And you can also lubricate the blade with cutting oil as you go to protect the blade and extend its cutting life.

cordless sawzall + diablo carbide pruning blade = gamechanger.
I prefer it over a chainsaw for most applications.

A higher end recip saw that has an adjustable orbital action, instead of a fixed orbital action, you can really mow through wood fast with the orbital on full (or for metal, you have the orbital completely off for optimal).

Plus, safer than a chainsaw, easier to use on a ladder, less worry if you hit metal, less worry if a blade breaks, etc...

I prune with three recips: a one-hand 12V with 6-inch Diablo carbide blade, a one-hand 18V with a Bosch 9-inch blade, and a two-hand 18V (Sawzall-type) with a Bosch 12-inch blade. I enjoy using the Bosch blades more because they throw more woodchips and sawdust, cutting faster. Perhaps because of this, they seem to stay cooler.

I use these alot to pull shrubs and tree stumps. You just cut a square around the bush or stump and it comes out like a piece of pie. I always get a kick out of showing someone who has never seen it before, beats the heck out of picking and digging at a stump or bush for 2 hours. Side note, im testing the easy arc brand now. a 3 pack is $20
