I'm here after the clone wars finale. Somehow Maul became the most complex character in the series.

Even after all the pain Maul had caused Obi wan. Kenobi still held darth maul when he died. Obi-wan is a true good guy.

He died, for the only thing keeping him alive was his hatred for Kenobi.

To think when they first met one was a Jedi apprentice and the other a Sith assassin. They were both soldiers with the backing of political systems and entire armies, one with the Republic and the other had the Separatist nations. They had goals and a purpose. But here at the end of it all they were two broken old men lost and forgotten.

What really makes me actually cry is the fact Obi-Wan, in the end, never looked enraged, upset, or vengeful. He freaking held Maul in his arms in Maul's last dying breath. I needn't say more.

The fact that Maul made peace with Kenobi right before dying is truly sad. The two go as far back as 10 years before the Clone Wars, meeting time after time again and clashing, both surviving. But in the end, at the golden age of the Galactic Empire, they both had become old and weak warriors. Though they’re enemies, they know of each other’s backstory and past life, they somehow have a mutual understanding between them. Simply amazing.
