1) Violence is an appropriate response to Sterling at this point in the series. 2) I love that it gets to a point where Eliot engages in a bar fight and everyone's so used to it, they barely react.

Note the great subtle touch of cinematography where they dropped the camera lighting on Elliot’s face after hearing Sterling’s voice so his pupils would dilate, as they would when one is about to commit a violent act.

The fact that Nate asked Eliot to not put on the Black Air Forces, and he did so anyway is what makes this show so great.
