Omg that is so true. Once I told my friend about my breakup and she literally smiled before saying that she is sorry. Later when I asked her why she did that she said that she didnt do anything. However, when I got into a happy realtionship, she literally said why does everything good only happen to you, that isnt fair. So idk

This might not apply to everyone. Especially neurodivergent people. I’m also neurodivergent so if someone tells me some good or bad news I tend to not react or feel anything because if the thing isn’t happening right in front of me my brain doesn’t register it as something real.
For example, some years ago my aunt passed away and when everyone heard the news they all started crying. I cognitively knew that what had happened was sad but it wasn’t until I saw her body at the funeral did it become real and I actually cried.
Ultimately, if someone tells me good news or bad news about themselves I might not have the desired reaction that they want. I try my best to mask and feign a reaction but it will come off a disingenuous but not out of malice, my brain just doesn’t work like everyone else’s.

I used to be friends with some girls who were exactly like this. You could sense that they were happy when things weren't going well for me. They would look at eachother and grin. They would be passive aggressive and start laughing as if making me feel like shit was so entertaining.

Look at the eyes. It’s the one thing humans can’t fake. I’ll never forget that this girl tricked me into thinking that she wasn’t trying to steal my boyfriend. I fell for it and apologized, but she couldn’t look me in the eye. Even though she makes eye contact with people 24/7, that was the one time, where she just couldn’t do it.
