Today our Spanish teacher tells us how to differentiate the verbs Saber vs Conocer. In English, they both translate to "to know", but they are 2 very different verbs, used in different occasions, and they are not interchangeable! So when should you use Saber or Conocer?

Here is one simple trick for you to remember:

- Saber is used to talk about Skills and Knowledges.
- Conocer is used to talk about Places and People.

Let's take a look at these 2 examples:

- Yo sé cocinar ( = I know how to cook). Cooking is the skill!
- Yo sé alemán ( = I know German). Speaking the German language is a knowledge!

And now, ahora, let's see the examples of the verb Conocer.

- Yo conozco a tus amigos ( = I know your friends). Friends are people!
- Yo conozco Paris ( = I know Paris). Paris is, of course, a place.

Y tu, ya sabes hablar Español?! ;)
