I'm a truck driver I can go right now and start pulling freight. The problem is it doesn't pay to bring it back to the northeast. Not only do we not have a driver shortage problem we have companies who expect us to pull there product on the cheap. I'm not going to California anytime soon until the freight starts paying.

christmas has nothing to do with all this crazy shopping, save your money and get back to the basic meaning behind the holidays.

The problem isn't just transportation. We need to actually create some of these items in America that are being outsourced overseas.

Pay drivers a fair wage and more will apply to drive.

Truck drivers don’t get paid as much when working at the port, they get paid by container delivered but the ports are slow to unload the containers and get them to the drivers causing low pay which results drivers looking elsewhere

There are no shortage of truck drivers. The carriers do not want to pay a fair wage. You need to look at the private businesses that own the ports. The port of Long Beach is owned by an Australian private business because China bought it and US forced them to sell it.
China controlled private business have been buying up the ports. Why is this happening after the US pulled out from Afghanistan. It’s big corporations that are trying to cripple the system.

So you're advising to start shopping now so that the congestion will get even worse?

Many did not know that Gavin Newsome helped cause this mess in California by not lifting the restrictions on Owner Operator Trucks dated 2011 through 2018. There was new smog equipment and restrictions that needed to be placed on those years of Semi's, and owner operators walked away from their trucks and business. The media has not yet covered this, but they will very soon. This is just added to the problems of unloading and shipping containers.

For product that don't have expiry dates should still be ok, but for food, they might not be consumable by the time they reach the shelves.

Alternative solution: stop buying unnecessary Chinese goods simply because it's the "holiday season."
