For the last few weeks, disturbing reports of attacks on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh have poured in. We speak to a young Hindu student in Dhaka who participated in the students’ protest against Sheikh Hasina. He explained how the situation had deteriorated for minorities, and how it is worse in villages where right-wing elements have unleashed lawlessness. Expressing disappointment over the role Indian media has played, he said they have made their lives harder by sensationalising the attacks on Hindus.

Well, I'm also a Bangladeshi Hindu. Yes, there are certain people who were attacked after Sheikh Hasina left the country. But 90% Hindus are safe in Bangladesh. My Muslim friends and neighbours are with us. And, the 10% Hindus, who were attacked after our ex PM Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh, are corrupted Awami League Party members or the Awami League supporters who used to support Awami League openly after doing corruption. Also, not only Hindus but also many Muslims were attacked.

I live in Moulvibazar where 50% of population are hindus. They have probably more shops than muslim. But only one Hindu shop was vandalized because that shop was a meeting place of awami league.
So what I want to say that, after hasina's departure, member of awami league were attacked, their property have been vandalized. Some muslim awami league leader were killed by the mob.

When in India we do shit like this. How we can lecture or be show like a saviours of the world.
Aren't we hypocrites?
This young guy hit the wet shoes on the face on our media and us.
We had history having communal violences way more than Bangladesh.
Honestly speaking we should be shameful lecturing other on violence considering our past and current scenario

AS a Bangladeshi I agree what he is saying...About thousands of people even more being killed in this protest...she tortured lots of people from opposition and other free speech people inside aynaghor which is a safehouse in DGFI..The death of abu sayeed a student from Begum Rokeya University Rangpur is the prime evidence how she demonstrate her power to Bangladeshi citizens...shame Hasina

In kolkata, I have some friends whose relatives live in Bangladesh. As per their own account, extremists and anti-social ppl are vandalizing hindu temples, home but the media here reporting these cases in an exaggerating manner. The problem is that media is using those poor ppl to spread propaganda here. They are using other's misfortune to gain political support.

We are all Bangladeshi, we don't believe in the word "minority" in our country. Trust me this "minority" card has always been played by the Awami league to get attention from India for their own political gain.

I am a Bangladeshi Muslim. From my childhood I am a social worker, Sportsman and Musician. I have 100 of Hindu Friends. You know what, I never ever thought that they are Hindu and I am Muslim. They are friends !!! I am 56 years old and still we are friends. In my house we have 3 Hindu families leaving (tenants) for 10-12 years, almost every days we share our foods. My mother used to play with kids. One of the family wanted to move to other locality but the baby girl stopped the family to move just saying I do not want to leave Dadi Jan (My mother). This is how we live in Bangladesh. But still there are people do bad things with Minorities but the percentage is very very low and when people come to know the society boycotts them.

I am from Bangladesh and I agree with most of his statements. But one thing he didn't mention is that from the very beginning of these things, Muslims (basically Madrasah students) started to guard the Hindu temples, in almost all over the country. Apart from this, I would like to share my observation on this minority attacking. I live in a small city. And just after the fleeing of the former PM, people started to attack on some targeted shops and business centres. These shops were basically owned by the leaders and strong supporters of the previous government. Most of them were owned by Muslims and only a few were owned by Hindus. At the same time, hundreds of shops owned by Hindus were left untouched. And there was not a single attack on any Hindu temples in my city. So, thses attacks were mostly (not all) targeted to the leaders and supports of the former government. This thing is also same for attack on Ahmedia community. Almost all the ahmedias are supporters of the former government. And hence they were attacked.

2:53 the answer is Jamaat /BNP & other political party didn’t join this protest as a Party ...Coz it was an Apolitical Student Protest. If they joined the regime would accuse the students with political agenda...
They verbally supported this protest from the day students got assaulted by the police & Chatroleague... They have already tried to overthrow Hasina several times..Bcoz she rigged last 3 election (India helped her) A lot of their workers & leaders are jailed & forcefully disappeared..
During protest..specially after 16th July a lot of workers of these opposition party’s joined... Abu Sayeed (1st martyr) was a BD Islami ChatroShibir (Jamat's student wing) activists... Sayeed inspired a lot... Also during Carfew & Internet blackout a lot of opposition leaders & workers were arrested along with students...some were killed...
When the students announced the non-operation movement more opposition party workers joined this movement... Literally everyone hated this Regime so it was obvious that a lot of the protestor turns out to be a worker of opposition party....
You can say 70% of protestor were normal students.. 30% was BNP/Jamat & other party workers...
To say opposition party's didn’t want anything from this protest until they were accused & killings... It is inevitable that if another election happens... They will win..
They have been fighting Dictatorship for a whole dacade... A lot of their workers died...
I was in the protest several times.... When facing gun shots and tearshells.. They were the bravest one...they literally innovated ways to win conflict..like using tin-shed as sheild switching front liners time to time...
This protest was never a Hindu Muslim issue...
Muslim Leaders announced immediately after Hasina’s resignation to protect Hindu Minorities... Coz they knew The regime will play Hindu card again...They did.. But failed... It’s true some of the accusations were (maybe 5%) was true... Some of them turned out to be pro-Hasina regime...
I hope I've explained enough....my English skill is not that good... Pardon that 🫠

Why do you feel bad when you see people taking Hasina's belongings, but not when more than 200+ students were killed by direct orders from Hasina? What kind of human beings are these Indian media journalists?
Dont you people feel shameful for sheltering a dictator ?

no-brainer

It's painful as well as funny how "neutral" media sensationalize every attack on Muslims in India even if it's not related to religion but personal reasons, as they should, but try so hard to make it seem like attack on Hindus in Bangladesh is not big deal and just one of event.

The kid has said everything so nicely. Proud of you. We are one single nation. We don't believe in division. Muslims and Hindus will protect each other with life in Bangladesh.
