Could you explain slowly how to do the tricks with the pen at the start when you are flipping it through your hands please, possibly?

On the first trick I have a hard time getting the pen to stay on my finger when I pull it back which results in that I can't move my thumb to flip it back, any tips on how to get past it? It looks like you rest the pen against your wrist but that doesnt work for me
