Some people say digital compasses in dive computers are innacurate and swear to "traditional" computers. Is there any truth or logic to this?

Last Sept I purchased a custom BCD. Aqua Lung Omni. Size M with a S Waist. First time I used it was a Lake Cleanup. Came home to wash my gear. Noticed the LPI Connection(BCD end) came loose. Mentioned it to my shop. He told me to tighten it. Is it normal for them to come loose during a dive? I didn't have much water to drain out.
