Fantastic trip report David! This plane has really lived an interesting life as the AW signifies it was delivered to America West, transferred to US during the meter in 2006, then transferred to AA during another merger in 2015!

Sky Harbor is a great airport to connect thru. The service on PHX-LAX seems better than PHX-SNA. Only get a biscuit on the SNA route and no option to purchase alcohol.
