i met a french woman at work for a few weeks and i loved the fact that everyday i could flirt with her and just be relaxed, i found her so unassuming, ....i was really sad when she went back to France, was like no other woman i'd ever met.

Ms. Ollivier's remark on the mystery and subtlety of French allure is also why women can be charmed by the males who flirt in France. In America, when many men flirt, they themselves are hoping for an eventuality that can be offensive or dangerous to ignore.
It's not just the French women who are different but also the French males they are interacting with.

As a frenchman traveling to the US I have a different view about the american ladies.
As long as you do it smartly, politely and with respect many american women like to flirt too and they can do it very well. Obviously it is a question of respect and limits. Nothing wrong or sexual here, it is just a little game and if you play well you will get a nice smile and you day will be better.
I've met sometimes women behaving like a navy seal but you can find this kind of women in France too. Living without flirting it's like eating a toast without butter and :-) Cheers to all my US friends!

The reason why is although not the only one, the French language has a gender for every word, there is a balance right there in the core of the culture, its language, stemming from this is a dance between men and woman or women and men, we are constantly dealing with words with she or he and dancing around each other which implies a team work (dancing is a team work)

I'm French from Paris, generally concidered good looking, and I can tell you that French woman are extremly cold, concider every men as a potential rapist, are very relluctant to engage in any contact with men. Although they would prefer foreigners. Lot of them have a fetish for dark skins as well. The first time I came to live in Germany, I couldn't beleive my eyes that I got attention from women, I also met a lot of american and english women from who I got lots of very positive attention. I also find French girls to be humorless.

Part 2- Just wanted to add that not all above normal attractive women are shallow, I have known and am acquainted with some who are lovely inside and enjoy conversation with all sorts of men. These women to me, are the jewels of society and like lovely jewels...they are rare and cherished by men everywhere. I think on this point, all men of every nationality would agree.

They did a study not that long ago on flirting and American Women ranked at the bottom of the list near Ecuador.The funny part about it was that British and Canadian women were more flirty than American women.I almost fell out of my chair when I read that survey.Spanish Women ranked near the top when It cam to flirting.

Their are too many generalizations made on both sides of the pond. It's been awhile since I made comments here. Too many authors will write anything just to get published in order get unwarranted attention and this author is a prime example. Both countries have their share of problems and no one can cry we have perfection. I have met some French women who are pleasant and more that are not; I am sure French men could say the same of American women. A lot is cultural difference everywhere.

americans are more achievement oriented. if you don't achieve, you are a "loser". there is only one way to be. It is all competition and only the winner counts. so it is guaranteed way to be unhappy and dissatisfied in life. and americans allow their corporate jobs to rule their life and their personal life which in turn neuters/represses the relationships between men and women. American men now do a cost/return analysis on a potential marriage... love has nothing to do with it anymore. It's all down to your net worth and earning potential.

Anglo women(American and British) dislike and fear men. Hence, why you hear about many of this men going to foreign countries to find women. Still it's a strange culture where you can't say that. It's almost as if you can't criticize certain things. Meanwhile, some French women love men and stand by their side.

Slow down, please. You have misinterpreted what I have stated here almost a yr. ago. I know about neo-feminism, Susan B. Anthony's womens' suffrage movement, women gaining the right to vote, et. al.

Before you disclaim that I had absolved myself away from knowing about other types of feminism, you should ask me. Then if I had told you that I didn't know or if I were wrong about feminism, then you can state that I need to reeducate myself.
