I had to laugh at that small ass house Jake showed Olivia. lol He is a simple man and if Liv ever does settle down it would not be in a home of that size.

This is also why I hated that in the end Jake was the one they sent to jail. Jake always wanted out. He asked Olivia to leave with him, to save him over and over. She used sex to manipulate him and used him as a pawn against her Father when her Father wasn't using him as a pawn against her.

It's crazy that end the end they sacrificed Jake when he literally wanted out all along.

The scene just proves how Liv views jake,
She used him to her benefit.. she knew in the end she was NEVER going to choose him.
If she even loved him at all she would have gave him some hope, like she did with FITZ in the Vermont home, she made love to him and the told him NOT to sell the house! Because she knew she want the door to be open for her later in the future.
She just completely shut jake down!!
Jake should have stopped messing with her after this smh... He allowed her to use him and abuse him

Okay, let me clear this up for y'all who think Jake was really asking Olivia to live an unimpressive life with him. He was testing her, she was adamant on "saving" him from her father and that she did have feelings for him. She basically played him to become Mellie's VP, and say that she saved him from Rowan. I think Jake just wanted to hear Olivia say, that after everything she still didn't really have his back like she said.

Him as a high school JV baseball coach leading the team to unimpressive heights while they raise three unimpressive kids would find that tempting???? lol

Shonda is using OLITZ and OLAKE to sh*t on our fairy tales and happy endings. Normal and healthy relationships are not the end game. Power is.

Olivia can't control Fitz not like Jake, he was trained to follow order and no matter what he will follow orders. Jake is a simple dude at heart and look at that house he wanted them to live in compared to the house Fitz had built for SHE AIN'T GOING FOR THAT! What she said in the break up scene with Jake was the complete truth. She will always choose Fitz.

Jake's character has evolved so beautifully since Season 2 ...turning from innocent to Badass but yet vulnerable when it comes to Olivia and her father...Hwever I cannot stand Olivia's character since the kidnapping she has become selfish unaware that Jake was going to save her when she did get kidnapped ...until she convinced her kidnappers to leave that location...the way she treats abby and quinn, just disgusting but the writers are good because they are pissing me off with her... Jake and her father are my favorite characters ..so many past secrets Jake's childhood to Adulthood on Season 5 ( one of the episodes in Season 5) had me in tears ...he is so strong

I think Olivia really does love him. I also think her dad did a number on her. He brainwashed her to seek power more than anything. Really, she is crying for help

I like to come back to read comments years later to see how wrong everyone was.

Jake was testing her. She was using him. Like he said and like she always did

I found this part really upsetting for three reasons...first of all, being in love with someone isn't everything. Olivia left Fitz before Vermont even happened. She doesn't want stability in her personal life. The moment either man commits to her, she destroys it. I've been in love with Jake from the start and whether one person is tricking the other, well that's Shonda Rhimes and her continuous twists and I'm not going to sit here thinking I can figure that out for sure...but for a long time it has seemed like his feelings were legitimate. Both of them have gone through hell and struggled so it wasn't insane for him to ask for a little normalcy. However, point number 2 why this was upsetting was that he shouldn't have expected that she would agree to a super simple life like the one he was talking about. Even couples who have that kind of life from the start get unbelievably bored. Olivia should be able to do something that fulfills her and so should he. It doesn't make a relatively stable and lovely life together impossible. 3rd is how Olivia rejected him. The way she responded made it look as if the only reason she saved him was bc he asked but also to use him as leverage. I get rejecting the VP ticket would be incredibly hurtful to a campaign, but to destroy the idea that she left him on his wedding day bc she was in love with him was absolutely miserable.

Here is hoping that she's just a woman who doesn't know how to love the way people should be loved and not that she manipulated the entire thing.

Jake was the one in the wrong. He made a commitment to run as Mellie's VP and backed out at the last second.

I hate that he actually put the tie on like she was his mother. He needs to stick up for himself.

I'm a little confused, what happened to the storyline in the first part about lazarus one and the Louvre burning and all that stuff? Did we get a conclusion for that? I can't remember.
