200-125 CCNAv3.0 Exam Explained | CBT Nuggets

In this video, Jeremy Cioara covers the changes that have been made to Cisco's flagship certification: CCNAv3. In this recorded live webinar, Jeremy Cioara reviews the structure of the new version 3 exam, topics it covers, and the skills you'll need to learn to be successful.

The CCNA v3.0 update is unlike anything Jeremy has seen before in his 16 years working with Cisco technologies.

Cisco has pulled a lot of data out of its certifying exam, and mastering this version will be much more about what's not in it versus what is. That's because Cisco had spent years putting so much information in the CCNA, that people who held it were knowledgeable in a lot, but good at nothing specific.

ICND1 brings back the RIP protocol and OSPF has been removed. That's because RIP is the best core framework to learn.

The ICND1 exam is much less about specific routing and configuring, and much more about the big picture of networking.

ICND2 heralds the death of serial connectivity. Ethernet connections are replacing it, and the test reflects that evolution.

There's a lot to cover about the new and improved CCNA, get an expert's analysis of how to prepare for it with Jeremy.

1:55: What's new on the CCNA 3.0 update
4:00: What’s changed about the ICND1
7:10: ICND2 expectations
10:50: What not to expect on the 3.0 exam
13:20: Building a home lab for preparation
15:45: Emphasizing big picture concepts over memorization
19:30: The anatomy of the certifying exams
23:40: Cisco’s certifications breakdown

Jeremy, I love Cisco as well as your voice. I learnt a lot from your all training videos. When you said about Cisco vs Juniper, you said Cisco is the best and also the reason - what we know and interested. I love juniper as well.. JunOS got structured command lines what is missing in Cisco IOS, and I like the COMMIT and ROLLBACK feature what we don't have in Cisco IOS switches and routers. Again, we have to learn Cisco and CCNA exams..

took the first test of v2 exam and failed by 3 marks out of 1k(yes I did not touch the books but was top in class in all the labs, so was cocky as hell) but did not give up, I returned and started studying the cisco books but saw weeks later that v2 can no longer be taken(don't usually go to cisco website a lot) and had to study for v3(a few extra topics but no biggie)... the problem I had with the first half of the test was that it had a lot of theoretical stuff found in the books but did not even come up when doing labs in the classroom, they were just not that important.... that was a major problem with me since I could configure and explain in detail anything you threw at me but had no idea of some of the really finer details in terms of definitions and advantages/disadvantages of certain things(this stuff is found in the books only).... later on I realized that the single exam has a lot less theoretical stuff since there was no room for them in 1 exam and be able to cover a lot of topics.... if I had taken the single exam I would have found a job already instead of staying at home studying.... it was one of the things that I really regret in my life, it was my decision and I screwed it up even though I was advised otherwise :/

I know this vid is older, but it still references the current version of the exam. I recently just re-certed the 200-125 and received 65 questions and quite a few were outside the exam blueprint. Fun times.

I have 3 1841 routers framed relayed with a 2620xm frs that I used when I did the exam in 2009 but I just want to get the 15.0 ios and that should be enough.... I'll use packet tracer for the switches..

I passed the ICND1 v2 100-101 a couple of months ago and looking to do ICND2 v2 200-101 but its been changed for v3. I've rang Cisco and they confirmed I can do v3 after passing the ICND1 for v2. But I feel like I'm missing out of new content. What would you recommend doing?
