Welcome to the Mayan Ruins of Uxmal in the Yucatan, Mexico! We took a 1.5 hour bus ride from Merida to see these beautiful ancient structures and we think it was totally worth it!

*Sorry about the wind audio - at this point in our journey we had a broken mic and resorted to using just our normal camera's microphone. BETTER AUDIO TO COME!

Howdy! We're Jenna & Andrew and we create travel vlogs (right now we are in Mexico!). With this channel we hope to do more than just the typical bucket list. We set out to better understand the culture, language, and most importantly the people of the places we travel to. Oh man do we love us some ruins. These are INCREDIBLE! Bonus that there were so few people there too. Lol, the Burger King commentary 🤣 So glad you didn't go that route.

That does look epic and way less crowded! A lot of tourist places around the world are starting to charge an extra fee for using a camera. It’s so stupid, especially when you know everyone has a smart phone that’s almost as good as a lot of video cameras.

Hey guys! Liking the videos, we had the same issue of missing and thinking the pok ta pok was on Wednesday. Funny thing about that, is we had heard multiple times that it had been changed to Friday's, but now you guys are hearing Saturdays?... Unfortunately, like the bus schedule, can't find any definitive answers online, so hope you guys figure it out! Keep up the awesome content! 🙌

I don't remember going down a path like that. Looks like you guys missed the Casa de las Palomas and Governor's Palace, two of the most impressive structures. And yeah, you're technically supposed to pay to make a movie, but they don't seem to enforce it for photo cameras and smartphones. Yeah, I visited all three of the big ones and this one was by far my favorite and every tourist I talked to said they preferred Uxmal over Chichen Itza. Chichen Itza, the south cluster feels like an authentic lost city, highly recommend. But the north section where all the iconic sites are is very commercialized and feels a little like an amusement park. And Tulum has been completely ruined. Worst archaeological site I've been to. I mean, the ruins and views are nice, but it's the way they run the place. Yeah, Uxmal was more expensive compared to some of the other ones, but totally worth it. I think most tourists stay in Quintana Roo, so not very many tourists make it out to Uxmal, so it's been able to stay more authentic.

And yeah, I like exploring places on my own, because I can go at my own pace, especially since I vlog, but sometimes it's nice to have a guide, because they tell you things you won't find online. Also, sometimes taking a tour is logistically easier than going on your own by bus . We were able to see a lot more places with a tour than we would have been able to on our own. If I had the money though, I would just hire a private driver each time.

Rome2Rio says buses from Merida to Uxmal are at 06:00, 09:00, 12:00 and 15:30. Is that not the case?
