Xbox Says Console Exclusives are Fading Away

In an Xbox interview with Phil Spencer & Bloomberg, the conversation about console exclusives came up. The Xbox news today is that his response seemed to indicate that Console Exclusives are fading away.

I love how some people are missing the point of his statement. He literally means “one platform” Xbox been doing this for years and now even PlayStation is slowing doing it

I think Phil is referring to games coming to PC and mobile. As for Xbox games, it means the same but also where ever game pass is too. I seen a lot of PlayStation fanboys acting like Xbox will go 3rd party and all Xbox games will be on PlayStation

People sure do like to misinterpret lawyered statements multibillion dollar companies make. Phil Spencer is talking about PC releases and Xcloud, so you’re not going to get PS exclusives on Xbox and viceversa.

He specified "One Box exclusives", in the market those exclusives are necessary in order to get subscribers, if all the services are the same there won't be no point in services, it's like with Netflix and Diseny +, exclusive content but that is allowed to come out on Blue ray from Disney, but not on Netflix. Same thing for services.

Phil Spencer said the day of the press conference welcoming Bethesda into the fold that it was about making games available on platforms where game pass exist so this is not anything new he's staying consistent.

Lord. Phil is saying Sony will need to move on from console exclusives. Xbox is already available outside of consoles. Come on man. Damn.

Console exclusives aren't going anywhere. They would be insane to split market share off of their hardware, their ecosystem and ultimately their control. Nintendo has dominated both Sony and Microsoft this generation with the unreal success of the Switch. They are the proof in the pudding that hardware and exclusives are still what drive the consumer towards the platform.

This makes logical sense, They were the first of Sony and Nintendo start putting games on PC, It's making sense to have a multi platform ecosystem

Umm without platform exclusives... what reason would I have to buy an Xbox or a PlayStation? I just don't see exclusives going away anytime soon.

I agree with Spencer. Xbox players miss out on so many games cause they don’t have a PlayStation, PlayStation players are missing out of so many games cause they don’t have an Xbox etc. everyone should have all the same games regardless of console preference.

Phil is right . I've always sad that games being exclusive won't lead to anywhere in long term . They shoul make a deal with Sony that everything is timed exclusive ( 6 months -1 year )and then ports on everything. Halo on PlayStation, God of War on Xbox and everyone is happy

The idea of exclusives is pretty anti consumer anyways. I don't like that I need a ps5 just for games like guilty gear and final fantasy 16. I need a 500 dollar box just to play one cool game a year.
